Delta Dental Patient Information

At Universal Dental, we are committed to providing exceptional dental care to all our patients. After careful consideration, we have decided to transition to an unrestricted, out-of-network provider status with Delta Dental, effective January 1, 2026. Rest assured, throughout 2025, we will continue to honor all in-network fees to ensure a smooth transition for our valued patients.

What does this mean for you?

The good news is you can still be a patient and use your insurance benefits in our office.  We work with Delta Dental every day and will continue to bill them for services provided to you. We will strive to help you maximize your dental benefits as much as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you becoming an unrestricted/out-of-network provider with Delta Dental?

This decision allows us to maintain the highest quality of care without the constraints often imposed by insurance networks. By becoming an unrestricted provider, we can offer a broader range of services and dedicate more time to each patient, ensuring personalized and comprehensive care.

Will you still see Delta Dental patients?

Absolutely. We welcome Delta Dental patients, and many plans offer similar benefits for both in-network and out-of-network providers, especially for preventive services like cleanings, exams, and X-rays.

Will my benefits change?

For many patients, coverage remains consistent, particularly for preventive care. However, reimbursement for specific treatments may vary based on your plan. If you have concerns about coverage for a particular procedure, we can submit a treatment pre-determination to provide clarity.

How will insurance reimbursements work?

The primary change is that Delta Dental will send reimbursement checks directly to you, typically within 1-2 weeks after your visit. Therefore, we will request payment in full at the time of service. For major treatments, we offer flexible payment arrangements to accommodate your needs.

What if I want to change my insurance?

If you're considering switching insurance providers, we are in-network with several plans, including:

  • Sunlife Financial
  • Aetna
  • Cigna PPO
  • Humana
  • Guardian
  • Lincoln Financial
  • MetLife - PDP Plus and FEDVIP
  • United Healthcare
  • Zelis
  • GEHA - Connection Dental
  • Anthem (BCBS of CO/CT/KY/ME/MO/GA/IN/NV/NH/OH/VA/WI/NY)

Additionally, some patients choose to utilize tax-free FSA or HSA plans for healthcare expenses. We also offer an in-house discount plan. For more details, please contact us. A member of our friendly team is available to answer any questions you may have.
